Every Christmas season is unique but each brings to mind the many wonderful and happy times we have had with our friends and family. From a Christmas letter received years ago, a friend said, “One of the gifts of getting older is that we get to keep all the ages we have been,” we agree. We remember the years with grand parents and our children that made them grand. Brothers and sisters with their children added to the blend of happiness and joy. The grandparents are all gone now and we have taken their titles but not their place.

It seems our world and country has changed dramatically these past few years, but our love for you will remain the same until we lift that anchor for the final time. All of you have a special place in our hearts and you are in the tapestry of our lives. Some of you are from our childhood, others from years in the university and seminary. Many were in one of the three churches we served and loved, and so many were in more than 300 churches Dan has worked with these past 25 years. And hundreds of you are in Southwest, the church we call home and family.

This past year Dan was invited to serve as one of our eight elders and while that has become more time consuming than he imagined, he seems to be in God’s element and enjoying every moment. Dorene finds herself very involved with the Women’s Ministry, she and one of her best friends provides direction for the church Prayer Shawl Knitting Needles.

The children seem to be doing well but far away. Dana and her family continue to live in the State of Washington. Dana has an 11-year-old grand daughter, but her children have long been on their own. Theron still lives just outside of Portland and his family consist of Nicole, a tiny Pomeranian and five tree squirrels. I know, it sounds like “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” He continues to enjoy his business as an expert upholsterer. If you have an antique car or Yacht, he can help-☺

Who would have thought a few years ago that you would receive a Christmas card that would direct you to a web site? As you read our Christmas greeting and blessing you can see the answer. When Renee, our youngest arrived at her final destination (heaven), with the encouragement of friends, we established an endowment in her name at the University where Dorene and I met. That was established to assist financially physically challenged students, the first scholarship of its kind. So many of you helped make this happen by your generous gifts. How grateful we are for you. To say “Thank You” seems so inadequate.

Just this last week we received the phenomenal news that the scholarship has reached that point where it is vested, which means that in 2013 the first students will receive scholarships from this endowment, students who otherwise would find it very difficult to manage the cost of a college education.

This web site where you are now has several other links that may be of interest. We invite you to take a few moments and understand why we are grateful for another year of God’s blessing.

Because of His love, we are able to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Let us remember that God keeps His promises and that His love never fails. This Christmas may you feel His immeasurable and infinite love.

SNOWMEN MELT … BUT MEMORIES LAST

The years have passed so quickly, the bodies grow more fragile, but the memories remain – and good friends never change – and you are such a cherished part of our memories, and a part of our present likes! Love and Blessings,
Dan and Dorene Myers
